The Urban Conservation program provides assistance to citizen groups and governmental agencies in their efforts to reduce and prevent soil erosion, flooding and related resource problems in urbanized areas.  The District will provide technical and financial assistance on eligible projects sponsored by citizen groups, private organization or governmental agencies.

CATEGORY 1

Each project will be evaluated by the LBNRD Board of Directors and cost-share will be determined on a project by project basis.  Generally, the amount of District assistance will not exceed $150,000 is cost-share request.  However, the Board shall use discretion in determining the public benefits to be received and whether a greater level of cost-share is desirable.

 

ACCEPTABLE PROJECTS

Development and Improvement of Recreation and Public-use lakes.  

Permanent Grade Stabilization Structures.                                    

Stormwater Management Facilities.  

Diversions and Terraces.
 

CATEGORY 2

1. The Little Blue NRD will provide 50% of actual contracted project costs to a maximum of $20,000 per project.  Such project costs shall include construction, engineering and inspection only when those services are provided by an outside firm.  An applicant's in-house expenses for such services are not considered eligible costs.

2. The LBNRD will provide technical assistance by NRD staff with the assistance of the Natural Resources Conservation Service, if necessary.  Assistance will vary from the development of ideas to review and general guidance on the project.

3.  The NRD, through the Interlocal Agreement, may assume certain responsibilities if deemed appropriate.
